Based on the 1782 novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, Christopher Hampton's stage adaptation is a play of power, sex and revenge set on the eve of revolution in eighteenth-century France. "Liaisons", focusing on the darker side of human nature is as valuable today as ever and probably best known for the 1988, triple Oscar winning film starring Glenn Close, Michelle Pfeiffer and John Malkovich. Oh, and if you're still not convinced, it has since been given a modern make-over and presented as "Cruel Intentions" starring Buffy's own Sarah Michelle Gellar!

The play centres on the deadly games of Marquise De Merteuil and her ex-lover Vicomte De Valmont as they seek to play with the lives of anyone in their path. Weaknesses are sought and attacked in the name of sport as Valmont picks out his conquests in the form Cecille, a young innocent and Madame Tourvel, a married woman of strong religious conviction. However, when Valmont's own weakness is exposed well... you'd better be there to see!
