Barnet and District Drama Festival - Award Winners 2010

In a first for the Socity, We entered 'Allo 'Allo into the 2010 Barnet and District Drama Festival. We are delighted to announce that we were awarded the Andew Forney Memoial Trophy - Adjudictor's Special Award.

The adjudicator, Charles Evans awarded this for Ingenuity. Performing a show of this nature, with its many diferent settings, in a hall with limited space and facilities was a massive challenge and we have been commended our use of every inch of available space, our use of the revolving set constructed by Craig Marshall and bringing the cafe in to the audience. Congraulations to all involved.

The Chameleons return to the Kingsland Hall this May to bring you 'Allo 'Allo by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft based on the classic television series set in wartime in occupied France and featuring all the well known characters and catchphrases.

As well as creating ‘Allo ‘Allo for the BBC, Lloyd and Croft also wrote Are You Being Served, and Croft along with Jimmy Perry co-wrote Dad's Army, It Ain't Half Hot Mum, Hi-de-Hi and You Rang, M'Lord?

Join Rene Artois (played by Stuart Everett), a humble café owner trying to make a living in difficult times. Meet the wife, who he has to be nice to, The Germans, who he has to be nice to, Michelle of the resistance, who he has to be nice to, and his serving girls Mimi and Yvette, who he enjoys being nice to.  Life is never simple for Rene as he hides the portrait of the fallen Madonna for the Germans, two British airmen for the resistance and two affairs from his wife!

Characters such as Herr Flick, Helga, LeClerc, Crobtree (Sorry, Crabtree), Gruber and Captain Bertorelli will all be hand to help and hinder him. Will he survive? Will the wife catch him up to no good? Will Michelle say zis more than once? Why not come along and find out!
